 There are only two such states in India where you get to see many forts and palaces step by step.  These two states are Maharashtra and Rajasthan.  If you will go to any part of Rajasthan, then after every 10 miles you will definitely get to see some fort.  Siwana Fort is one such ancient fort, which is located in Barmer district of Rajasthan.  This fort is built on a high hill at the Sivana Tehsil and Panchayat Samiti headquarters.  Siwana Durg is one of the oldest forts in Rajasthan.

 History of Siwana Fort

 The fort of Sewana has a glorious history.  It was built in the 10th century by Shri Veeranarayan, son of Panwar King Bhoj.  Initially this state was under the Pawars, but later the Sonegra Chauhans of Jalore took possession of this fort.  In the beginning of the 14th century, this fort was in the possession of Chauhan Sardar Sheetaldev, nephew of Kanhardev, then Alauddin Khilji attacked the fort on 2 July 1306, after which the fort went into the possession of Alauddin Khilji.  Alauddin, after the victory, named the Sivana Durg as Khairabad.  After Alauddin, Rao Mallinath's brother Rathore Jaitmal took over this fort and for many years the Jaimalotas continued to dominate this fort.  Ancient History Various famous men like Rao Maldev, Rao Chandrasen, Akbar, Kalla Rayamlat, Motaraja, Uday Singh Maharaj, Jaswant Singh I, Aurangzeb, Raja Sujan Singh and Ajit Singh etc. have been related to this fort.

 The Siwana Fort is located on a high mountain called Haldeshwar, 54 miles west of Jodhpur district in Indian Rajasthan.

 It is bounded by Nagaur in the east, Malani in the west, Pachpadra in the north and Jalore in the south.

 This fort is surrounded by sand on all sides, but along with it, the chain of fifty six mountains extends from east to west for about 48 miles.

 Rao Maldev had taken possession of this fort in 1538 and built a park to strengthen its security system.

 During his reign, when Akbar was displeased with Kalla Rathod, he sent Uday Singh, the king of Jodhpur, to take over the Siwan.  King Kalyan alias Kalla Rathore received Veeragati during the war.  He also has two tombstones in the fort.

 When Akbar's army attacked the Sivana Fort around 1600, in which the ruler Rao Kalla Rathore was martyred while fighting bravely.  On this, queens did Jauhar in the fort.

 In the second door of the fort, there are inscriptions on both sides, in which the inscription on the right side indicates the victory of Rao Maldev on the fort of Sivana.

 The statue of Veer Kallaji is located at a crossroads in the city of Siwana and the tomb of Veer Kallaji's horse remains in the Higher Secondary School, which is said to have sacrificed his life while protecting the life of his master.  .

 The fort has a large water tank located in the fort, whose water has never been exhausted.  There were many famines here, but water is always being made in this pond.  No one has an idea of   how deep this pond is, because till date no one has been able to see the bottom of the pond.

 Many residence palaces were also built in the fort, which are still seen in broken condition.

 The remains of the palace and the remains of Triklash Prasad can be seen inside the fort.  A little higher than that is the Shivling on a platform near the palace, in front of which Nandi is sitting.

 The major tourist places around Sewana include Haldeshwar Temple, Bhimgowda Temple, Mokalsar Ki Bawdi and Amartiya Kuan, Ashapuri Mata Ka Mandir, Jalore Durg, Amartiya Bera and Jain Temple etc.
